Prosthetics
Losing a limb is traumatic, emotional, and often a very scary experience. A prosthetic limb along with a strong will, are the two most important components in returning to your active life. Surgi-Care's prosthetists provide patients with prostheses (artificial limbs) to replace an amputated hand, arm, leg, or foot. The prosthetist's goal is to provide you with increased function, such as walking or grasping. Some of the many considerations examined to choose an effective prosthesis are: amputation level, contour of the residual limb, expected function of the prosthesis, and cognitive function and vocation of the patient, as well as any cosmetic concerns he/she may have.
